With the reputation of a secluded get-away, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is a half mile wide hamlet with a old fashioned, charming "beach village" vibe. The town is one of the only in Florida with a three-tier natural coral reef for visitors to snorkel and dive. On Friday nights, the single street running through this sleepy town is closed, a stage is erected, and live music is flowing.
Centered on the junction of State Road A1A and Commercial Boulevard, the main industry is tourism, with specialty shops and hotels in abundance. At the ocean end of Commercial Boulevard is a long wooden fishing pier, and right across A1A is Glam Sparkle n' Glitz, located at 211 Commercial Blvd.
